George Fisher

George Fisher was born on November 28, 1743, in Bethel, Pennsylvania, the son of David and Anna Maria Weitzel. He was baptized on 18 Dec 1742 in Lebanon PA. He married Elizabeth Conrad on August 24, 1762, in Lebanon County,Pennsylvania according to the records of Rev. John Casper Stoever. They had nine children in 18 years.

George came to Pendleton County with his wife, father-in-law Jacob Conrad, and his older sons in Jun 1763. Elizabeth inherited quite a bit of land in Pendleton County from her father. The land was left to "Elizabeth and her heirs forever." This provides the researcher with many deeds that mention Elizabeth & George's family, as well as her father, Jacob Conrad. George owned 250 acres on the head waters of North Mill Creek, probably the two tracts named in Jacob Conrad's deeds which he left to his daughter Elizabeth, wife of George Fisher Sr. The date on these tracts is 7 Jul 1801.

Most revealing, and the record that provides our link to this patriot, is a deed record dated 3 April 1804 abstracted in Toothman
Pendleton Co Deeds:

George (Jr) and Elizabeth Fisher to Charles Hedrick, four undivided ninth shares in 250 acres on the head of North Mill Creek, adjoining and between
Cunningham & Coonrod, which George Fisher, Sr., holds of the lands entailed to his wife and children. Conveyance is for the shares of George Fisher, Jr., his brothers Charles and Peter, and his sister Treney (Franny). Consideration $200, VA.
Signed George Fisher, Elizabeth (X) Fisher. No witnesses.

The original of this deed lists the relationship between George Sr. and his heirs, definitely stating that George Jr. is his son. Original deeds listed in Toothman can be found with a bit of work on familysearch.org.

George's service during the Revolutionary war was that of Public Service where he provided 2 horses and 2 days of driving them in 1782. The proof of this is found in the
Virginia Publick Claims vol3, pg 827 & 838.

George died on June 3, 1835, in Virginia at the impressive age of 91and his w
ill was proven on 3 Jun 1835. While he names George Jr in the will, he does not designate him as his son. Hence the deed noted here is the only link that has been found between him and our lineage to date.

In another lineage note - this patriot's wife, Elizabeth Conrad, is the sister of our patriot Jacob Conrad (A02513) who is on the Curry/Conrad line. Thus the second generation (see below) are related through their 6th Great Grandparents!
